About Maya Joshua, L.Ac

Hi, my name is Maya and I run Original Nature Acupuncture - a clinic in Oakland, CA.

I trained to be an East Asian Medicine (EAM) practitioner at Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, CA. I was drawn to Acupuncture because it made a big difference in my own journey with chronic health challenges - and because it's an approach that encompasses somatic healing, spiritual tending, and physiological balancing.

My strengths are in listening to you deeply so I can know where you want to go, and then being your partner in getting there using the modalities in my scope - acupuncture, moxabustion, cupping, gua-sha, herbal medicine, and more. These we combine with research, curiosity, and a pragmatic game-plan. Hopefully the result is that you feel better, and if you don't improve under my care I'm keen to help you find a referral that will feel right to you.

What can Acupuncture and Herbs help me with?

About What We Do

We all navigate layers of struggle and beauty in a body.

Our bodies are exquisite in their wisdom and capacity to heal - and can also be exquisitely uncomfortable at times.

At Original Nature Acupuncture, we champion a holistic approach based on East Asian Medicine. Whether it's an injury, anxiety, emotional and mental challenges, or another medical condition, East Asian Medicine helps us return to a balanced state. Holistic means that instead of looking at things in pieces, we acknowledge that we're working with a dynamic whole. Your dynamic whole includes your body, your mind, and your spirit. Though your body may hurt, and your mind and your spirit may stumble, they are not broken - this is what I can help you remember (beyond addressing symptoms, which are an important piece, too!) , and arrive back at in your felt experience - that you are whole, and your original nature is intact.

I am passionate about partnering with you to help improve your quality of life, and I'm good at it. Let's see if we can improve your day to day experience by working together.
